Early Life and Background:
Abdul Samad hails from Kalakote, a village in Jammu & Kashmir. His father, Mohammad Farooq, a physical education master, and his mother, Farzana Kausar, supported his cricketing aspirations. Initially, Samad practiced cricket informally with his brother, Tayyub. His talent was recognized during a trial in Jammu, leading to his selection for Jammu & Kashmir’s domestic teams.

Samad made his debut in various formats for Jammu & Kashmir:

First-Class Debut: December 9, 2019, against Uttarakhand
List A Debut: November 17, 2022, against Punjab
T20 Debut: February 21, 2019, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

In domestic cricket, he has showcased his prowess as a middle-order batter and occasional bowler.

IPL Career:
Samad debuted in the IPL in 2020 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, becoming the third cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir to feature in the league. Over the years, he has been known for his explosive batting, especially in the middle order. In the 2025 IPL auction, he was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹4.2 crore.

Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, Samad displayed his batting prowess by scoring a rapid 112 off 64 balls in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match, highlighting his potential as a top-order finisher.
