Family and Origins: Karun hails from a family originally from Chengannur in Kerala. His father, Kaladharan Nair, a mechanical engineer, was stationed in Jodhpur during Karun’s birth. The family later moved to Bengaluru, where Karun’s mother, Prema Nair, works as a teacher at Chinmaya Vidyalaya.

Education: Karun completed his schooling at Chinmaya Vidyalaya and Frank Anthony Public School in Bengaluru. He pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree at Jain University.
Domestic Career

First-Class Debut: Karun made his first-class debut for Karnataka during the 2013–14 season, playing a pivotal role in their Ranji Trophy victory. He scored three consecutive centuries, including a match-winning 151* in the semi-final.

Triple Century Achievement: In the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy final, Karun scored a remarkable 328 runs, becoming the second player from Karnataka to achieve a triple century and the first in a Ranji final since 1947.

Record-Breaking Performance: In January 2025, Karun set a world record in the Vijay Hazare Trophy by amassing 542 unbeaten runs across five matches, including three consecutive centuries.

One Day Internationals (ODIs): Karun made his ODI debut for India against Zimbabwe on June 11, 2016.

Test Cricket: He debuted in Test cricket against England on November 26, 2016. In only his third Test match, Karun scored an unbeaten 303 runs, becoming only the second Indian batsman, after Virender Sehwag, to achieve a triple century in Tests.

IPL Debut: Karun began his IPL career with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012. He later joined the Rajasthan Royals in 2014, where he scored 330 runs in 11 matches.

Subsequent Teams: He has also played for the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Kings XI Punjab, and returned to the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2025 season, playing for Delhi Capitals, Karun scored 89 runs off 40 balls in a match against Mumbai Indians.

Marriage and Family: : Karun married his longtime girlfriend, Sanaya Tankariwala, a media professional, in a private ceremony in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on January 19, 2020. The couple welcomed their son, Kayaan Nair, in January 2022.
