Early Life and Background

Family and Education: KL Rahul hails from an academically inclined family. His father, K. N. Lokesh, is a professor and former director at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Mangaluru, while his mother, Rajeshwari, is an associate professor at Mangalore University. Rahul completed his schooling at NITK English Medium School and St. Aloysius College in Mangaluru.
Cricketing Beginnings: Rahul’s cricketing journey began at the age of 10. He moved to Bengaluru at 17 to pursue his cricket career, training at the Karnataka State Cricket Academy (KSCA).

Domestic Career

First-Class Debut: Rahul made his first-class debut for Karnataka in the 2010–11 Ranji Trophy season. He gained recognition for his consistent performances, including a triple century (337 runs) against Uttar Pradesh, becoming Karnataka’s first triple-centurion.
IPL Journey: Rahul debuted in the IPL in 2013 with Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has since played for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and currently represents Delhi Capitals.

International Career

Test Debut: Rahul made his Test debut for India against Australia in December 2014. He has since established himself as a key player in the Indian Test lineup.
ODI and T20I Debuts: In June 2016, Rahul debuted in One Day Internationals (ODIs) against Zimbabwe, scoring a century on debut—the first Indian to do so. He also made his T20I debut in the same series.

Personal Life

Marriage and Family: On January 23, 2023, Rahul married actress Athiya Shetty in a private ceremony. The couple welcomed a daughter on March 24, 2025.
