Tristan began his domestic career with Eastern Province in 2020, making his first-class and List A debuts in early 2020. He later played for the Warriors and was part of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape squad that won the 2022–23 SA20 league.
International Career:
He made his T20I debut in June 2022 against India. A year later, he debuted in ODIs against the West Indies and in Tests against India. In October 2024, he scored his first Test century, amassing 106 runs against Bangladesh.
IPL Career:
Tristan’s IPL journey began in 2022 when the Mumbai Indians signed him as a replacement for the injured Tymal Mills. He played two matches that season, scoring just two runs. In the 2023 season, he featured in two matches, scoring 25 runs. The Delhi Capitals acquired him in the 2024 auction for ₹50 lakh. In the 2024 season, he played 14 matches, scoring 378 runs with an average of 54.00 and a strike rate of 190.91. He also contributed with the ball, taking 3 wickets in 2 overs at an economy rate of 7.50. In the 2025 season, Delhi retained him, and he was acquired for ₹10 crore.
