Bharat Jadhav Biography
Bharat Jadhav (born 12 December 1973) is an Indian actor and producer who works mainly in Marathi cinema, theatre and television. He was born in Mumbai and raised in the Lalbaug–Parel chawls; his father worked as a driver and the family lived modestly, but his parents encouraged his interest in acting and dance. He began performing at local cultural programmes and Ganesh-festival events, and was associated with Shahir Sable’s folk troupe Maharashtrachi Lokdhara before moving into commercial Marathi theatre in the 1990s.
The stage made his name. The comedy All The Best became one of the biggest commercial successes of modern Marathi theatre, and Sahi Re Sahi — in which he played multiple characters — became one of the longest-running Marathi productions, completing 4,444 shows. He has also appeared in Shrimant Damodar Pant, Adhantar, Saujanyachi Aishi Taishi and Astitva. His screen career began with a small role in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Hindi film Vaastav: The Reality (1999).
Through the 2000s he was central to the revival of commercial Marathi cinema, frequently working with director Kedar Shinde and actors Ankush Chaudhari and Sanjay Narvekar on films such as Pachadlela, Aga Bai Arrecha!, Jatra: Hyalagaad Re Tyalagaad, Khabardar, Saade Maade Teen and Bakula Namdeo Ghotale. He won the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Actor for Jhing Chik Jhing and was honoured with the V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award by the Government of Maharashtra in 2019. He launched Bharat Jadhav Entertainment in 2013, and enjoyed a strong later run in 2025 with Dashavatar, Ata Thambaycha Naay! and Banjara. He married Sarita in 1998; the couple have two children, both of whom stay out of public life.
