Harish Kumar, born in 1975 in Hyderabad and sometimes credited simply as Harish, is an Indian actor and film producer whose work spans Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada cinema. He started as a child artist in the Telugu film Muddula Koduku (1979) and worked steadily through the early 1980s in films such as Premabhishekam (1981), Trisulam (1982), Andha Kanoon (1983) and Haqeeqat (1985). His performance as the young Prakasam in Andhra Kesari (1983) won him the Nandi Award for Best Child Actor.
He moved to adult roles in his teens, taking a lead part at 13 in the Malayalam film Daisy (1988), directed by Pratap Pothen and co-starring Kamal Haasan, and appearing in Tamil as a lead in Pookkal Vidum Thoothu (1987). Producer D. Ramanaidu introduced him as a Telugu lead in Prema Khaidi (1990) opposite Malashri; after the film succeeded, Ramanaidu remade it in Hindi as Prem Qaidi (1991), with Harish again in the lead and Karisma Kapoor making her debut.
Through the 1990s he worked in Hindi cinema in films including Tirangaa (1992), Aadmi (1993), Kranti Kshetra (1994), Gaddaar, Ravan Raaj: A True Story and Coolie No. 1 (all 1995), Army (1996), Hero No. 1 (1997), Aunty No. 1 (1998) and Bulandi (2000), while continuing in Telugu with titles such as Rowdy Inspector (1992) and Oho Naa Pellanta (1996), for which he received a Nandi Special Jury Award. His later screen credits include Naughty @ 40 (2011), Chaar Din Ki Chandni (2012) and Aa Gaya Hero (2017).
