Harsh Mayar Biography

Harsh Mayar is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films, television and web series. He began training as a performer at about the age of eight, joining the Shri Ram Centre in Delhi with the support of his uncle, Sunil Kumar, because his parents could not afford the fees for acting classes. He performed in several stage shows and attended roughly 180 auditions for singing, dancing and acting before being cast in his first film.

He was selected for Chillar Party but withdrew after breaking his right hand, and was later cast in Nila Madhab Panda’s I Am Kalam, shot in Rajasthan in 2009 alongside Gulshan Grover and Pitobash Tripathy and released on 5 August 2011. His performance as Chotu, also called Kalam, won him the National Film Award for Best Child Artist at the 58th National Film Awards, together with the Best Actor prize at the Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” and the River Rock Award at the Silent River Film Festival in California.

As an adult actor he has appeared in Hichki (2018), Kanpuriye (2019) and The Tenant (2023), and he plays Aman Mishra in TVF’s family comedy Gullak, in which he has been part of the main cast since the first season in 2019; the role brought him a Filmfare OTT Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Comedy) in 2022. He has also worked on stage, appearing in the Hindi musical Paighamber, directed by Vikas Dwivedi, with Tom Alter and Amit Behl. His most recent release is the comedy One Two Cha Cha Chaa, which came out on 16 January 2026.
