Hemant Mishra Biography

Hemant Mishra is an Indian character actor and theatre practitioner, born in 1960. He is an alumnus of the National School of Drama. He began his career in Delhi, where he appeared in television serials and in films produced for Doordarshan, and later moved to Mumbai to work in Hindi cinema.

Across a screen career running from 1986 to 2012 he worked consistently as a supporting player rather than a lead, appearing in several films now regarded as landmarks of Hindi parallel and crime cinema. He played Juror #6 in Ek Ruka Hua Faisla (1986), the Hindi adaptation of 12 Angry Men; a policeman in Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen (1994); and Sharma in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company (2002). Alongside his screen work he has worked extensively in theatre.
