Hiphop Tamizha Biography
Hiphop Tamizha is an Indian musical duo based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, made up of Rangadhithya “Adhi” Ramachandran Venkatapathy and R. Jeeva. The two met online in 2005, and Adhi began using the name Hiphop Tamizha for his online uploads before the project was formally founded in February 2010. Jeeva rarely appears in public, so the name is popularly associated with Adhi alone.
The duo broke through with the single “Club le Mabbu le” and followed it in August 2012 with Hip Hop Tamizhan, publicised as India’s first Tamil hip-hop album. From 2013 they moved primarily into film work, composing for Aambala (2015), Thani Oruvan (2015), Aranmanai 2, Kaththi Sandai, Kavan and Imaikkaa Nodigal, among others.
Adhi made his acting, writing and directing debut with the partly autobiographical Meesaya Murukku (2017) and has since headlined Natpe Thunai, Naan Sirithal, Sivakumarin Sabadham, Anbarivu, Veeran, PT Sir and Kadaisi Ulaga Por. The duo spent roughly a year and a half on their “Return of the Dragon Machi” world tour, which included a January 2026 show at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur. Adhi has also faced public criticism — over the portrayal of women in “Club le Mabbu le” and over his 2016 pro-jallikattu video, which PETA India disputed.
