Imran Khan Biography

Imran Khan (born 13 January 1983) is an American actor and director of Indian origin, known for his work in Hindi-language films. This profile covers the Bollywood actor; he is not related to, and should not be confused with, the Pakistani cricketer and politician of the same name.

He was born in Madison, Wisconsin, in the United States, to Anil Pal, a software engineer, and Nuzhat Khan, a psychologist. His parents divorced when he was about eighteen months old and he kept his mother’s surname as a tribute to her. He is a nephew of the actor Aamir Khan and the director-producer Mansoor Khan, and a grandson of the director-producer Nasir Hussain. He appeared as a child artist in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) before training in filmmaking and acting at the New York Film Academy.

Khan made his adult debut in Abbas Tyrewala’s romantic comedy Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008), a critical and commercial success that won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He followed it with the successful romantic comedies I Hate Luv Storys (2010) and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) and the black comedy Delhi Belly (2011). After a run of poorly received releases, Katti Batti (2015) became his last leading role to date. He made his directorial debut with the documentary short Mission Mars: Keep Walking India (2018) and returned to the screen in 2026 with a special appearance in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos.
