Manasa Sharma Biography

Manasa Sharma is an Indian writer and director who works in Telugu-language films and streaming series. A software engineer by training, she moved into screenwriting and drew directly on her own working life for her first directorial project, telling Deccan Chronicle in 2024, “Life in the IT industry is quite entertaining because I am a software engineer myself.”

She first drew attention as co-creator and co-writer, with Mahesh Uppala, of the comedy-drama web series Oka Chinna Family Story, produced by Niharika Konidela under Pink Elephant Pictures and premiered on ZEE5 on 19 November 2021. Uppala directed that series; Sharma also contributed voice work to it.

Sharma made her debut as a director with Bench Life, a five-episode Telugu drama set among “benched” IT employees, which she wrote with Uppala and which began streaming on SonyLIV on 12 September 2024. Her first feature as writer-director, the fantasy film Raakaasa starring Sangeeth Sobhan and Nayan Sarika, was released theatrically on 3 April 2026.
