Nithiin Biography

Nalla Nithin Kumar Reddy (born 30 March 1983), known professionally as Nithiin, is an Indian film actor and producer who works in Telugu cinema. He is a recipient of several accolades, including a Filmfare Award. He spells his screen name with an extra “i”.

Nithiin was born in Nizamabad, then part of Andhra Pradesh and now in Telangana, to the film distributor N. Sudhakar Reddy and Laxmi Reddy, and has an elder sister, Nikitha Reddy. He completed his schooling at Geetanjali School, Begumpet, did his intermediate education at Ratna Junior College and graduated from Shadan College of Engineering and Technology, Gandipet. His father later turned producer and backed two of his films, Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde and Chinnadana Nee Kosam.

He began his career with Teja’s Jayam (2002), a commercial success that earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South, and followed it with Dil (2003), Sri Anjaneyam and S. S. Rajamouli’s Sye (2004). A long run of unsuccessful films followed — he holds the distinction of the most consecutive box-office failures by an actor in Telugu cinema — before he returned to success with the romances Ishq (2012) and Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013), each earning him a Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu nomination. He went on to appear in Heart Attack (2014), Chinnadana Nee Kosam (2014), A Aa (2016), Bheeshma (2020) and Maestro (2021). He established his own production studio, Shresht Movies, in 2013, and serves as a brand ambassador for the Swachh Bharat campaign in Telangana. He married Shalini Kandukuri in 2020 at Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad; the couple have one child.
