Raj Nidimoru Biography
Raj Nidimoru is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer who works as one half of the filmmaking duo Raj & DK, alongside Krishna Dasarakothapalli. He was born and brought up in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, in a Telugu family, and met his future collaborator while both were students at SVU College of Engineering. After graduating, the two moved to the United States and worked as software engineers before turning to filmmaking.
The pair began with the short film Shaadi.com (2002) and the English-language feature Flavors (2003), then made their Hindi debut with the crime comedy 99 (2009). They followed it with Shor in the City (2011), Go Goa Gone (2013), Happy Ending (2014) and A Gentleman (2017). Raj also co-wrote and produced Stree (2018), directed by Amar Kaushik, the film that began Maddock’s horror-comedy series. In 2021 the duo set up the subsidiary D2R Indie to back independent films, starting with the Telugu feature Cinema Bandi.
Raj & DK are best known for their streaming work: the Amazon Prime Video series The Family Man (2019–present), whose third season was released on 21 November 2025; Farzi (2023); the Netflix crime comedy Guns & Gulaabs (2023); and Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024), the Indian chapter of the Russo brothers’ Citadel franchise. Raj married actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu on 1 December 2025 in a private ceremony at the Isha Yoga Centre near Coimbatore.
