Regina Cassandra Biography

Regina Cassandra, who now uses the professional spelling Regena Cassandrra, is an Indian actress working primarily in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. She was born on 13 December 1990 in Madras, now Chennai; her father has Anglo-Indian roots from Goa and her mother is Tamil. She began anchoring for the children’s channel Splash at the age of nine, took a BSc in psychology at Women’s Christian College, Chennai, and later completed an MSc in counselling psychology at the University of Madras. She changed the spelling of her name in accordance with numerology.

She made her film debut in a supporting role in the Tamil film Kanda Naal Mudhal (2005) and led the Kannada film Suryakaanti (2010) before her Telugu debut, Siva Manasulo Sruthi (2012), won her the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Telugu. Commercial successes followed with Routine Love Story (2012), Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga (2013), Power (2014), Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham (2014) and Subramanyam for Sale (2015), while Jyo Achyutananda (2016), Maanagaram (2017), Awe (2018) and Evaru (2019) drew critical praise.

She entered Hindi films with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019) and reached a wider audience on streaming as Mrinalini Sarabhai in Rocket Boys (2022–2023), which brought a Filmfare OTT Awards nomination, and as an NIA officer in Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke (2023). Her 2025 releases were Vidaamuyarchi, Jaat and Kesari Chapter 2; in 2026 she starred in the Telugu mystery thriller Mareechika, released on 29 May 2026, and in the bilingual Ananthan Kaadu. In 2023 she became a co-founder of Democratic Sangha, a rural women’s leadership programme.
