Shraddha Kapoor Biography

Shraddha Kapoor, born 3 March 1987, is an Indian actress who works in Hindi cinema. She was born and raised in Mumbai to actor Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kapoor (née Kolhapure), and has an elder brother, actor Siddhanth Kapoor. Actresses Padmini Kolhapure and Tejaswini Kolhapure are her aunts, and her maternal grandfather Pandharinath Kolhapure was a nephew of Deenanath Mangeshkar and a maternal first cousin of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Kapoor attended Jamnabai Narsee School and moved at 15 to the American School of Bombay; she later enrolled at Boston University in the United States to major in psychology but left in her first year to take up acting.

She began her career with a brief role in the 2010 heist film Teen Patti, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley, which earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, and took her first leading role in the teen comedy Luv Ka The End (2011). Her breakthrough came as the singer Aarohi in Mohit Suri’s romantic musical Aashiqui 2 (2013). She established herself with the romantic thriller Ek Villain (2014), Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider (2014), the dance drama ABCD 2 (2015) and the action film Baaghi (2016).

Kapoor’s biggest commercial successes came with the horror comedy Stree (2018), which grossed over ₹1.7 billion, and its sequel Stree 2 (2024). Other notable releases include Chhichhore and Saaho (both 2019), Baaghi 3 (2020) and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023). She has also recorded playback songs for films including Ek Villain, Haider and ABCD 2. Kapoor is among the highest-paid actresses in India; Forbes India featured her in its Celebrity 100 list between 2014 and 2019, and in 2016 Forbes Asia named her among successful Asians under the age of 30. She is unmarried.
