Sivakarthikeyan Biography
Sivakarthikeyan (born 17 February 1985), often known by his initials SK, is an Indian actor, playback singer, lyricist and film producer who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He was born in Piranmalai, near Singampunari in the Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu; his father, G. Doss, was a jail superintendent, and his elder sister is a doctor. He completed his schooling at Campion Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School in Tiruchirappalli and took a bachelor’s degree in engineering at J. J. College of Engineering.
He entered the industry through television, winning the second season of the Star Vijay stand-up comedy contest Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? in 2006 and going on to host shows including Adhu Idhu Edhu, Super Singer and Jodi Number One. His film career began in 2012 with Marina and Manam Kothi Paravai, and commercial success followed with Ethir Neechal and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (both 2013), Maan Karate (2014), Rajinimurugan and Remo (both 2016), Velaikkaran (2017) and Namma Veettu Pillai (2019).
He launched his own banner, Sivakarthikeyan Productions, whose credits include Kanaa (2018), Doctor (2021), Don (2022) and Kottukkaali (2024). His biggest commercial success to date is Amaran (2024), in which he played Major Mukund Varadarajan, and he has since appeared in Madharaasi (2025) and Parasakthi (2026). He is a recipient of a Filmfare Award, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and several SIIMA awards, and received the Kalaimamani honour from the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2020. He married Aarthi on 27 August 2010; the couple have three children.
