Tovino Thomas Biography

Tovino Thomas, born on 21 January 1989 in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur district, Kerala, is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema. He is the youngest child of Sheela and advocate E. Thomas; his siblings are Tingston Thomas and Dhanya Thomas. He completed primary schooling at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda, took a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering, and worked as a software engineer at Cognizant before turning to films.

He made his debut in 2012 with Prabhuvinte Makkal and broke through with ABCD (2013), 7th Day (2014) and Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015), the last of which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Malayalam. He played the title role in the Netflix superhero film Minnal Murali (2021), starred in 2018: Everyone Is a Hero (2023), which was India’s official entry for the Academy Awards, and headlined A.R.M. (2024), his first solo 100-crore grosser.

In 2025 he starred in Identity, which underperformed at the box office, reprised Jathin Ramdas in L2: Empuraan, played a police officer in Narivetta, and appeared in an extended cameo as Chathan in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra — a role he returns to in the sequel Lokah Chapter 2: Chathan. He also produces through Tovino Thomas Productions. He married Lidiya at St. Thomas Cathedral, Irinjalakuda, on 25 October 2014; the couple have a daughter born in 2016 and a son, Tahaan, born in 2020.
