Trisha Krishnan Biography

Trisha Krishnan, born on 4 May 1983 in Madras (now Chennai) to Krishnan and Uma, is an Indian actress who works mainly in Tamil and Telugu cinema. She was schooled at Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Church Park, Chennai, and took a Bachelor of Business Administration course at Ethiraj College for Women. She worked as a model in print and television commercials, and in 1999 won the Miss Salem and Miss Chennai pageants, which marked her entry into films.

Trisha first appeared in a minor supporting role in Jodi (1999) and took her first lead role in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002). She rose to prominence with Saamy (2003) and Ghilli (2004) in Tamil cinema and with Varsham (2004), Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005) and Athadu (2005) in Telugu cinema. She made her Hindi debut with Khatta Meetha (2010), her Kannada debut with Power (2014) and her Malayalam debut with Hey Jude (2018).

She has received five Filmfare Awards South, a Nandi Award for Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Abhiyum Naanum. Her later work includes Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), 96 (2018), Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan films (2022 and 2023) and Leo (2023), her highest-grossing release. She made her web series debut with Brinda (2024) and starred opposite Suriya in Karuppu (2026). She lives in Chennai with her mother and grandmother and is unmarried.
