Varun Sharma (born 4 February 1990) is an Indian actor and comedian who works mainly in Hindi cinema and is best known for playing Dilip “Choocha” Singh in the Fukrey film series. He was born in Jalandhar, Punjab.
Sharma was schooled at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and transferred to Apeejay School in Jalandhar for classes 11 and 12. He then took a bachelor’s degree in Media, Entertainment and Film Technology from ITFT Chandigarh. He made his film debut in 2013 with Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s comedy Fukrey, a commercial success; the role of Choocha won him the Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role and two Star Guild Awards.
He has since worked steadily in comic and supporting parts, including Dolly Ki Doli and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015), Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale (2015), Fukrey Returns (2017), Arjun Patiala, Khandaani Shafakhana and Chhichhore (2019), Roohi (2021), Cirkus (2022), Fukrey 3 (2023) and the Netflix film Wild Wild Punjab (2024). He made his Punjabi-language debut with Yaaran Da Katchup (2014) and appeared in the web series Chutzpah (2021). His most recent release is the comedy Rahu Ketu, which opened on 16 January 2026 with Sharma as Rahu opposite Pulkit Samrat.
