Varun Tej Biography

Konidela Sai Varun Tej (born 19 January 1990), known professionally as Varun Tej, is an Indian actor who works in Telugu cinema. He is the son of actor and producer Nagendra Babu and a nephew of actors Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan. His younger sister Niharika Konidela is also an actress, and actors Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Allu Sirish, Sai Tej and Panja Vaisshnav Tej are his cousins. He studied at St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad, and first appeared on screen as a child actor in Hands Up (2000).

Tej made his debut as a lead actor in 2014 with Mukunda, and drew praise the following year for Krish’s critically acclaimed war drama Kanche. He established himself as a leading actor with the romantic drama Fidaa (2017), a major critical and commercial success, and followed it with Tholi Prema (2018), the space drama Antariksham 9000 KMPH (2018), the comedies F2: Fun and Frustration (2019) and F3 (2022), and the negative-shaded title role in Gaddalakonda Ganesh (2019). He also voiced the title character in the Telugu-dubbed release of Aladdin (2019) and appeared as a guest on Bigg Boss Telugu season 3.

He became engaged to his Mister and Antariksham co-star Lavanya Tripathi on 9 June 2023 and married her on 1 November 2023 in Tuscany, Italy. Their son, Vaayuv, was born on 9 September 2025. His most recent releases are the bilingual air-force drama Operation Valentine and the period crime film Matka, both in 2024. He is currently filming the Indo-Korean project Korean Kanakaraju, with Bhari in pre-production.
