Vikrant Massey Biography
Vikrant Massey is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films, television and streaming series. He was born on 3 April 1987 in Mumbai to Meena and Jolly Massey — a Sikh mother and a Christian father — in a middle-class family originally from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. He studied at St. Anthony’s High School in Versova and at R. D. National College in Bandra, and trained as a dancer, working with choreographer Shiamak Davar before he began acting.
Massey made his acting debut with the television series Dhoom Machaao Dhoom (2007), and followed it with Dharam Veer (2008), Balika Vadhu (2009–2010), Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo (2010–2011) and Qubool Hai (2013). He entered Hindi cinema with supporting roles in Lootera (2013) and Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), and took his first lead in Konkona Sen Sharma’s A Death in the Gunj (2017). He then became a fixture of Indian streaming with Mirzapur (2018), Broken But Beautiful (2018–2019), Criminal Justice (2019) and Made in Heaven (2019).
His turning point was Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s biographical drama 12th Fail (2023), in which he played IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The film was a sleeper hit, and won him the National Film Award for Best Actor at the 71st National Film Awards — shared with Shah Rukh Khan for Jawan — along with the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. He was honoured as Indian Film Personality of the Year at the 55th International Film Festival of India in 2024, announced a career break that December, and returned with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan in 2025.
