A Scanner Darkly

“A Scanner Darkly” is an otaku science fiction novel written by Philip Dick in the year 1977. The book is based in America where the author imagines the government having a war on drugs some years to come. The main character, Bob Arctor, is an undercover agent tasked with observing a group of drug abusers who are members of a cult. Substance D is like a pill and also very addicting and Arctor, who is graced with physical ability, uses it subsequently compulsively. As he gets deeper into his cover, he begins to spy on himself, dissolving the lines that separate him as an officer from himself as a user.
