Bobby Deol, born Vijay Singh Deol on 27 January 1969 in Bombay, is an Indian actor who works mainly in Hindi cinema. A member of the Deol family, he is the younger son of the actor Dharmendra and the younger brother of Sunny Deol. After appearing as a child artist in Dharam Veer (1977), he took his first lead role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Barsaat (1995), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

He followed it with a run of commercially successful thrillers and action films — Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997), Soldier (1998), Badal and Bichhoo (both 2000), Ajnabee (2001) and Humraaz (2002), the last of which brought a Filmfare nomination for Best Actor. He also starred alongside his father and brother in Apne (2007) and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011). A long career downturn followed, relieved by the ensemble hits Race 3 (2018) and Housefull 4 (2019).

Streaming work rebuilt his standing: Class of ’83 (2020), the series Aashram (2020 onwards), Love Hostel (2022) and The Ba***ds of Bollywood (2025), Aryan Khan’s directorial debut for Netflix. His turn as the antagonist Abrar Haque in Animal (2023) drew wide acclaim and a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He next headlined Anurag Kashyap’s crime thriller Bandar, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and reached Indian theatres in June 2026. His father Dharmendra died in Mumbai on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89, and was awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously in 2026.
