Spider-Man: Brand New Day India Box Office Day 1 Verdict
Thursday morning show. Hindi dub. Houseful. That’s how the Spider-Man: Brand New Day India box office day 1 run began, and the noise only got louder as the day went on.
Tom Holland’s sequel opened across India on July 30, 2026. A plain working Thursday. No holiday attached, which is exactly how Avengers: Endgame opened back in 2019, so the comparison writes itself.
Then something strange happened by evening. Two respected trade trackers were showing totals more than ₹13 crore apart for the same film on the same day. Before anyone yells “record smashed,” let’s go through what actually landed.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day India box office day 1, hour by hour
Sacnilk’s live tracker is the one most Indian outlets pull from. Watching it climb through Thursday tells you more than any single headline number.
- 9:59 AM — ₹6.24 crore net (₹7.36 crore gross) from 3,662 shows, overall occupancy at 68.6%, Hindi shows sitting at a flat 100%.
- 5:30 PM — ₹29.03 crore net, now spread across 11,941 shows.
- 7:06 PM — ₹35.38 crore net (₹41.75 crore gross) from 15,050 shows, occupancy nudged up to 71.0%.
A 68.6% morning occupancy for a Hollywood release on a working weekday is ridiculous.
That flat 100% on Hindi shows is the number I’d watch, though. Marvel’s India money doesn’t come from English-language multiplex screens alone. The dubbed circuit is what turns a Hollywood release into a mass event here, and it filled first. Overall occupancy then crept from 68.6% in the morning to 71.0% by 7:06 PM, so the afternoon and evening shows kept pace instead of tapering off. Front-loaded openers usually sag after lunch. This one didn’t.
Bollywood Hungama’s own tracker told a rosier story the same day: ₹55.18 crore gross, 14,48,415 tickets sold, 12,823 shows across 3,948 venues, 45.60% occupancy.
Same film. Same date. Very different totals.

Why no two trackers agree on Day 1
Nothing shady is going on here. A Day 1 figure isn’t announced by anyone; it’s a running estimate that keeps climbing as shows report back.
You can watch it happen in the timeline above. Trackers counted 3,662 shows at 10 AM and 15,050 by 7 PM. Layer the net-versus-gross confusion on top of that, and two honest trackers land in two different places.
Short version: a Day 1 number is an estimate until Friday morning. Treat every Thursday-night figure as a snapshot, not a scoreboard.
The advance booking run that started all this
The pre-sales were the real story long before the film opened.
- Advance booking crossed ₹63–64 crore gross in India before release, per Koimoi.
- The film crossed 1 million BookMyShow tickets in advance. Only the third film ever to do that here, after Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
- Advance sales alone matched 64.86% of No Way Home’s entire Day 1 net of ₹32.67 crore. Before Brand New Day had sold a single walk-in ticket.
- Total advance hit ₹85 crore gross for the opening weekend, with ₹45+ crore of that for Day 1 alone.
- News9Live counted that advance across 3,662 shows, at roughly 39% opening-day occupancy already booked before walk-ins started.
Koimoi’s pre-sales report put it plainly: “Spider-Man is a brand in itself, and with a couple of more factors coming into play, the buzz has reached the next level.”

Endgame’s record: cracked, or still standing?
Here’s the part the celebratory headlines quietly skip.
At national multiplex chains (PVR, INOX, Cinepolis), the final Day 1 advance count came in at 5.80 lakh tickets. That’s the second-biggest advance sale ever for a Hollywood film in India. Second. Not first.
Pinkvilla’s box-office desk said it without flinching: “This is the second biggest advance sales for a Hollywood film in India, trailing only Avengers: Endgame. For the record, with 9.75 lakh tickets, Endgame remained untouched ever since its release.”
Do the maths and Brand New Day reached about 59.5% of that mark. Not a beat. Not close to a beat, honestly.
And Endgame’s actual Day 1 back in 2019? ₹53.10 crore net, ₹63.21 crore gross. That came off 2,845 screens in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu. Taran Adarsh logged it at the time as “Fri ₹53.10 cr Nett BOC. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹63.21 cr. NON-HOLIDAY RELEASE.”
So Brand New Day sits somewhere in the ₹35–55 crore band, depending on which tracker you trust. And it was still climbing when the last shows started. Comfortably ahead of No Way Home. Endgame is a photo finish at best.
Opening weekend and the global number
Some outlets framed that ₹85 crore weekend advance as already past Endgame’s ₹90 crore weekend-advance benchmark. Read that carefully. The two figures sit in the same range, counted slightly differently by different desks. Nobody should call it settled tonight.
What convinced the trade wasn’t the total so much as the speed. Bollywood Hungama watched more than 10,000 tickets disappear every hour in the run-up. The day before release, that rate went past 20,000 an hour. On advance data alone the desk wrote that “₹55 crore is there for the taking,” and pegged Day 1 at ₹55–60 crore.
By evening their own live tracker showed ₹55.18 crore gross. That lands inside the predicted band. Whether the desk meant net or gross, nobody spelled out, which is exactly the kind of small print that turns one film’s Day 1 into three different headlines.
Overseas, the ceiling looks higher. Forbes reported domestic tracking running from $180 million to $274 million, later narrowing to around $249 million. Any point in that band gives 2026 its biggest opening weekend, past Toy Story 5’s $159.6 million start. No Way Home’s $260.1 million December 2021 opening is still the one to catch.
So, is this the Holland-era peak?
My honest read: yes on hype, not yet on history.
Brand New Day genuinely set a record on aggregate pre-sales. Third film ever past a million BookMyShow tickets is not a small thing. It also genuinely did not touch Endgame’s reserved-ticket record at national chains. Both facts are true at once, and the trade press mostly picked whichever one made a better headline.
What settles this is Friday and Saturday. If word of mouth holds and the Hindi belt keeps filling morning shows, the weekend total does the talking. If it drops, this becomes a monster front-loaded opener and nothing more.
