Toxic Advance Booking Record: 3.3 Lakh Tickets in 24 Hrs
The Toxic advance booking record is doing exactly what Kannada cinema fans hoped it would. By the afternoon of August 22, 2026, Yash’s film had sold 3,30,619 tickets across 10,963 shows in India. That works out to ₹13.98 crore without blocked seats and ₹21.98 crore with them, per Outlook India’s tracker.
Bookings opened on August 21. The film releases on August 26.
Four days of runway left, and the counter hasn’t slowed down.

Toxic advance booking record: the numbers so far (as of Aug 22)
Here’s where the surge stands right now. Treat every figure as a snapshot. Trackers refresh hourly and the national count has floated between 3.3 and 3.5 lakh across outlets today.
- 3,30,619 tickets sold across 10,963 shows nationally
- ₹13.98 crore gross, excluding blocked seats
- ₹21.98 crore gross once blocked seats go in
- 30,000 tickets in the first 6 hours across PVR Inox and Cinepolis alone, beating what Animal, Dhurandhar, Tiger 3 and Spider-Man managed in their opening six hours
Karnataka is carrying this. Yash’s home state accounts for ₹8.93 crore of that ₹13.98 crore, spread over 1,608 shows. Bengaluru alone did ₹5.29 crore from 917 shows. Mysuru chipped in ₹77.6 lakh from 113 shows. For contrast, the Hindi version in NCR sat at ₹2.85 lakh from 27 shows at the same cut-off. Hindi belt sales usually spike in the final 48 hours, not on day one of bookings.
If you’ve ever wondered why two trackers quote you two different numbers for the same film, we broke that down in how box office collection is calculated in India.

Toxic joins the 1-million BookMyShow interests club
The second milestone landed even before bookings opened. On August 20, Toxic crossed 1 million interests on BookMyShow, the 14th Indian film ever to get there, and the second Yash film after KGF Chapter 2, as Sacnilk reported.
People quote that stat a lot without context, so let’s fix that. The all-time BMS interests leaderboard looks like this:

So Toxic enters at the bottom of an elite list, not at the top. KGF 2 still doubles it. But there’s a catch: interests keep accumulating right up to release, and Toxic still has four days. Yash’s last film set that 2.1M bar as a sequel to a monster hit. This one is a brand-new story with no franchise safety net.

What the Hindi numbers say about opening day
This is where it gets interesting for the trade. Toxic’s Hindi version sold 60,000 tickets in its first 24 hours, edging past Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which managed 52,500 in the same window, according to Koimoi.
That places Toxic 7th among Indian films for Hindi 24-hour advance sales in 2026. Ahead of it: Jawan (155K), Dhurandhar 2 (125K and 115K on two separate counts), Pathaan (117K) and Pushpa 2 (95K).
Bollywood Hungama has projected a ₹45–55 crore Hindi-alone opening day, and ranked Toxic the second-biggest advance booking of 2026 so far, behind Dhurandhar 2. Worth remembering what that comparison actually means. Dhurandhar 2 is a sequel riding a built-in audience. Toxic isn’t.
One caveat, and it matters. Everything in this section is a projection, not a collection. Trade estimates during the booking window swing wildly, and a ₹50 crore Hindi day would still need the walk-in crowd to show up on the 26th. We’ll have the real number on day one.

Why the surge is this big
A few things stacked up at once.
Yash hasn’t released a film since 2022. KGF Chapter 2 was his last one. Four years of pent-up demand explains why Karnataka is booking out shows before the Hindi belt has even warmed up.
The scale is enormous. Toxic targets roughly 12,000 screens worldwide (the final count is still firming up), releasing at once in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English. The distribution map is split like this:
- AA Films: North India and Nepal
- Sri Venkateswara Creations: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
- Panorama Films: Kerala
- Think Studios, S Picture and White Nights (a consortium): Tamil Nadu
- Lionsgate: the English version, internationally
The cast reads like a festival lineup. Geetu Mohandas directs, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair on board. That spread pulls audiences from five different markets simultaneously.
And it’s an original. Trade press keeps flagging that a standalone film has outpaced franchise tentpoles on 6-hour advance sales. That almost never happens in this market.
Yash has been talking up this shift himself. His interview on Ramayana, Ravana and Toxic laid out where his head is after KGF.
So, is the record safe?
Honestly? The all-time advance booking crowns look out of reach — Jawan and Pathaan set Hindi benchmarks Toxic won’t touch. But that was never the fight. The fight is whether a non-franchise Kannada film can open like a national event, and on Aug 22 evidence, it can.
Book early if you want a decent seat in Bengaluru. Those 917 shows are filling fast.
We’ll be back with the actual day one collection on August 26. Until then, keep an eye on our box office trackers — and tell us in the comments whether you think Toxic clears ₹50 crore in Hindi alone.
