Street Fighter Movie Cast: Who Plays Ryu, Ken and Dhalsim
The Street Fighter movie cast looks like a fantasy draft nobody saw coming. Roman Reigns is Akuma. 50 Cent is Balrog. Jason Momoa is Blanka. And our own Vidyut Jammwal is Dhalsim, in his first Hollywood film.
The movie hit theatres in the US and India on 16 October 2026. Here it released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, so pretty much every multiplex in the country has a version for you.
So if you’re about to book tickets and can’t tell your Vega from your Balrog, keep this page open. Every actor, matched to their fighter. Plus a proper deep-dive on the character Indian fans keep asking about.

A few credits that don’t match everywhere
Cast lists online don’t all agree. Here’s what we spotted while checking:
- Cammy’s actor: TheSixthAxis spells her name “Melanie Jarnson”. Other listings say Mel Jarnson. Same person.
- Akuma’s actor: some listings use Roman Reigns’ real name, Joe Anoa’i.
- Softer credits: Wikipedia’s credits add Christian Valle as El Fuerte and Don Lee voicing Gouken in animated flashbacks. It also lists Sagat as an animated cameo. We haven’t seen other outlets confirm these yet, so treat them as likely, not locked.
- The director: at least one copy-paste mirror site names Justin Lin. Ignore it. Kitao Sakurai directed this film.
The Story: 1993, Two Estranged Friends and One Tournament
Before we go fighter by fighter, the setup.
Kitao Sakurai directs. He’s the filmmaker behind Bad Trip, so he clearly doesn’t mind a bit of chaos. T. J. Fixman and Sakurai wrote the screenplay, from a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman. Legendary Pictures produces and Paramount distributes. Capcom partnered with Legendary to finance the film, and cameras were rolling by September 2025.
The story takes place in 1993. Ryu and Ken Masters haven’t been on good terms for a while. Then Chun-Li shows up and recruits both of them for the next World Warrior Tournament. Naturally, a conspiracy threatens the whole event.
The official tagline keeps it simple: “it’s GAME OVER.” Variety India’s trailer coverage lays out the same premise, along with the Indian language release.
The marketing went big too. The trailer debuted on the Shinjuku Yunika Vision screen in Tokyo, kicking off a “World Warrior Tour”. There’s even a “first playable full-length movie trailer” on YouTube. You can take on a Combo Challenge through YouTube Playables while it runs.
A trailer you can play. Okay, we’ll admit it, that’s fun.
The world premiere happened on 12 October 2026 at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, four days before release.
Ryu and Ken: The Estranged Pair at the Centre
These two carry the Street Fighter movie cast on their shoulders. Their broken friendship and old rivalry form the central conflict. Everything else orbits around it.
Ryu (Andrew Koji)
Andrew Koji plays Ryu. The promo material also teases a “Dark Ryu” side to him.
Hardcore fans will notice the wording. The games call that version “Evil Ryu”. The film went with “Dark Ryu”.
We like that Ryu gets a shadow to fight. A hero who only punches bad guys gets boring by the second act.
Ken Masters (Noah Centineo)
Noah Centineo is Ken Masters, the other half of the broken partnership. Chun-Li pulls him back into the fight alongside Ryu, and their reunion is where the drama lives.
How much you enjoy this film depends on whether that reunion lands for you. The fights are the masala. Ryu and Ken are the actual meal.
Chun-Li (Callina Liang): The One Running the Show
Callina Liang plays Chun-Li. This version works as an undercover Interpol agent.
She’s also the one who recruits Ryu and Ken for the tournament. In plot terms, she sets the whole film in motion.
Making her the person with the plan gives her real weight from her very first scene. Good call.
Blanka (Jason Momoa): The Biggest Name Pulls Double Duty
Jason Momoa might be the most recognisable face in the Street Fighter movie cast. And he isn’t only playing Blanka. He’s also one of the film’s producers, alongside Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Takayuki Nakayama and Stefan Makhoul.
Fun trivia for 90s kids: in the 1994 live-action Street Fighter, Dhalsim reprogrammed Blanka to keep him gentle. Hold that thought, because Dhalsim is up next.
Dhalsim (Vidyut Jammwal): Why India Should Care
Now for the most interesting name in the Street Fighter movie cast, at least for us. Vidyut Jammwal plays Dhalsim, and it’s his Hollywood debut.
After Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood Walk of Fame moment, here’s another Indian star on a Hollywood marquee. This time he’s playing an Indian character who first showed up in 1991.
Who Dhalsim is in the games
Dhalsim debuted in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in 1991. He’s Indian, he fights with a yoga-based style, and he stretches his limbs to hit opponents from long range.
His signature moves:
- Yoga Fire
- Yoga Flame
- Yoga Blast
- Yoga Teleport
What makes him more than a stretchy-arms gimmick? Dhalsim is a pacifist. He enters the tournament to raise money for his impoverished village, not for glory.
He has a family too. His wife is Sally (Sari in the UDON comics), and his son is Datta.
The 1994 version
Live-action Dhalsim has happened once before. In the 1994 film, Roshan Seth played him as an Indian scientist and doctor whom Bison forced to help with his plans.
Thirty-two years later, a trained martial artist takes the role.
Why Jammwal fits the role
The Week points out that Jammwal has trained in Kalaripayattu since childhood. He has also trained in Kung Fu, Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. He choreographs his own action and does many of his own stunts, as anyone who watched Commando or Khuda Haafiz already knows.
The Week also noted that early versions of Dhalsim leaned into cultural caricature. It suggested this film may treat him more realistically. Fingers crossed.
Now the part we love. Jammwal told Hollywood Reporter India he’d never played Street Fighter before he got the part. Then he “got addicted to it for a while”.
His prep sounds properly serious:
“I played it every day with multiple partners so that I could understand every character.”
He sees himself in Dhalsim, too. “Being the Indian yogi who uses breath as a weapon is very relevant to me,” he said. “This is a yogi warrior and very similar to who I am.”
And he isn’t pretending it’s a gritty drama. He calls the film’s style “hyperbole”, and says that’s exactly what makes it fun.
When the trailer dropped, viewers online praised his action scenes and his physical transformation. Hollywood Reporter India went further, writing that his casting “has been read as a milestone for Indian representation in a major Hollywood franchise.”
Our take? A Kalaripayattu-trained actor playing a yogi warrior isn’t stunt casting. That’s just smart casting.
The Rest of the Street Fighter Movie Cast
The supporting Street Fighter movie cast is where things get wild. Who plays whom:
- Guile: Cody Rhodes
- M. Bison: David Dastmalchian, stepping into the series’ best-known villain role
- Akuma: Roman Reigns
- Balrog: 50 Cent
- Vega: Orville Peck
- Zangief: Olivier Richters
- E. Honda: Hirooki Goto
- Cammy: Mel Jarnson
- Dan Hibiki: Andrew Schulz
- Don Sauvage: Eric Andre
- Juli: Rayna Vallandingham
- Joe: Alexander Volkanovski
- Marvin: Kyle Mooney
Orville Peck as Vega is the one name on this list we genuinely didn’t see coming. 50 Cent as Balrog, though? That one makes sense the second you hear it.
Street Fighter Box Office and Reviews So Far
The film opened at No. 1, with $31 million in the US and Canada. Worldwide, it stood at $51.1 million as of 18 October 2026. These are early numbers, and they’ll keep moving.
Reviews are mixed, and that’s putting it kindly. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 40% and Metacritic at 44 out of 100. Audiences gave it a B- CinemaScore.
Critics split hard:
- The New York Times’ Brandon Yu credited the fight sequences.
- The Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Scheck found it only sporadically entertaining.
- Polygon’s Jake Kleinman called it “one of the sloppiest, cringiest, and most incoherent films of the year.”
- IGN’s Tom Jorgensen went easier on the Street Fighter movie cast. He praised the fighters’ performances and singled out Eric Andre and Andrew Schulz.
We couldn’t find a verified India box office figure yet, so we won’t make one up. We’ll update once the trackers settle.
Do You Need to Know the Games? Plus How to Watch in India
Short answer: no. The setup is simple. Two estranged fighters, an agent with a plan, and a tournament with something rotten inside it.
You don’t need a gaming background to enjoy the Street Fighter movie cast throwing hands. Knowing the games just adds a layer. You’ll catch the “Dark Ryu” wording, and you’ll know why Dhalsim fights at all.
In India, you can pick English, Hindi, Tamil or Telugu. Torn between the dubbed version and the original? Our guide on dubbing vs subtitles in India breaks down how Indian audiences really watch films.

Our Take Before You Book
We’ll save the full Paisa Vasool Ya Time Waste verdict for our review. On casting alone, though, we’ve made up our minds.
The Street Fighter movie cast is the strongest thing this film has going for it. Critics can argue about the script all they want. An Indian action star who grew up on Kalaripayattu, playing a yogi warrior in a Capcom movie? We’ve waited a long time for that.
So, who’s your main? Ryu, Chun-Li, or are you Team Dhalsim like us? Tell us in the comments.
