Ramayana US Premiere Advance Sales vs RRR and Baahubali 2
Did Ramayana just beat Baahubali 2 in America? On tickets, yes. On dollars, ask again after the weekend. As of Nov 5, Ramayana US premiere advance sales have cleared both RRR and Baahubali 2 on Sacnilk’s ticket benchmarks. Only Dhurandhar 2 was still ahead at the last published count, on Nov 2.
The paid previews ran Wednesday, Nov 4. Today, Thursday, is opening day in the US and in India. We couldn’t find any published preview grosses as of this writing. So every figure below is either advance sales or a projection.
And the numbers floating around this week don’t agree. Some outlets quote tickets, others quote dollars. Some mean the US, others mean the US plus Canada. Timestamps rarely match. So we lined everything up in one place and did the per-ticket math ourselves.
Quick answer: did Ramayana beat RRR and Baahubali 2 in the US?
Short version: Ramayana US premiere advance sales have passed two of the three big names.
- RRR (35K+ premiere tickets): Beaten. Ramayana had about 37,000 premiere tickets by Oct 30.
- Baahubali 2 (39K+): Beaten. Sacnilk counted 43,666 US premiere tickets on Oct 31, across 2,291 shows at 860 locations.
- Dhurandhar 2 (52K+): Not yet. Ramayana stood at 51K+ on Nov 2, under a thousand tickets short.
That climb from roughly 37,000 to 51K+ took three days. Nearly 40% growth, according to Sacnilk’s Nov 2 report.
One honest caveat. The figures for the older films are Sacnilk’s own estimates, not studio-reported counts. Sacnilk itself calls the comparisons indicative. So “beat Baahubali 2” really means “beat Sacnilk’s Baahubali 2 estimate.” Still, for an Indian epic in North America, that’s a serious flex.
Ramayana US premiere advance sales vs RRR and Baahubali 2: the benchmark table
Sacnilk published this benchmark list on Nov 2 at 9:38 PM IST. We’ve added Ramayana’s row and an opening-window column. Trust us, you need that column.
| Film | US premiere tickets (est.) | North America opening | Opening window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Animal | 24K+ | $6.5M | 3 days |
| Jawan | 28K+ | $7.5M | 4 days |
| Pushpa 2 | 35K | $9.3M | 4 days incl. previews |
| Pathaan | 35K+ | $9.5M | 5 days |
| RRR | 35K+ | $9.5M (est.) | 3 days |
| Baahubali 2 | 39K+ | $10.4M | 3 days |
| Kalki 2898 AD | 40K+ | $10.8M | 5 days incl. previews |
| Dhurandhar 2 | 52K+ | $14M | 5 days incl. previews |
| Ramayana | 51K+ (as of Nov 2) | $13M–$14M (projected) | 5 days incl. previews (Nov 4–8) |
Ramayana’s $13M–$14M is Sacnilk’s indicative five-day projection, “based on early ticket sales and historical conversion patterns.” It isn’t a confirmed prediction. It definitely isn’t a result.
Ramayana vs RRR vs Baahubali 2, criteria by criteria
| Criteria | Ramayana | RRR | Baahubali 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| US premiere tickets | 51K+ (advance, Nov 2) | 35K+ (est.) | 39K+ (est.) |
| North America opening | $13M–$14M projected | $9.5M (est.) | $10.4M |
| Opening window | 5 days incl. previews | 3 days | 3 days |
| Status | Pre-release, actuals pending | Released | Released |
| Wins on tickets? | Yes | No | No |
| Wins on gross? | Too early to say | Benchmark | Benchmark |
See the trap? RRR and Baahubali 2 made their opening numbers over three days. Ramayana’s projection covers five, preview night included. Park a five-day figure next to a three-day one and the newer film looks bigger, even if its daily pull is similar. Keep that in mind before anyone yells “record.”
Tickets vs dollars: the $22 vs $16 pricing twist
This is the bit most headlines skip. Sacnilk’s Oct 26 comparison put Ramayana against Dhurandhar 2 in the US:
- Dhurandhar 2: $537,660 from 33,348 tickets across 1,002 shows
- Ramayana: $517,354 from 23,319 tickets across 1,729 shows
Ramayana trailed by only about $20K in gross. Yet it had sold over 10,000 fewer tickets. Sacnilk credited higher average ticket prices and premium-priced screenings.
Sacnilk didn’t publish the averages. Here’s our own calculation from those figures:
| Oct 26 snapshot (our math) | Ramayana | Dhurandhar 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Average price per ticket | about $22.19 | about $16.12 |
| Tickets per show | about 13.5 | about 33.3 |
Roughly $22 a ticket against roughly $16. That’s how Ramayana can nearly match a rival’s dollars on far fewer seats. Premium pricing does the heavy lifting.
Honestly, the second row bothers us more. Ramayana spread itself over 1,729 shows, way more than Dhurandhar 2’s 1,002. Each show carried about 13.5 tickets against 33.3. Sacnilk read that as thinner demand per screening at the time.
Big show count. Premium prices. Fewer people per show. The opening weekend will tell us whether walk-ins close that gap.
Ramayana vs Dhurandhar 2: the last US benchmark standing
Dhurandhar 2 is the boss level here. Its 52K+ premiere tickets and $14M five-day opening (previews included) top Sacnilk’s list. On Ramayana US premiere advance sales alone, the new film sits at 51K+ with a projected $13M–$14M. Close? Very.
But Sacnilk makes a point the aggregator rewrites skip. Passing a ticket benchmark doesn’t automatically mean breaking the gross record.
Look at the shape of the sales. Ramayana had sold 1.40 lakh+ (140K+) US tickets for Nov 4–8, and about 37% of them were for preview night. Preview night plus Thursday already outsell Friday to Sunday.
That front-loading cuts both ways. It could mean a monster first two days. It could also mean less left in the tank for the weekend. For comparison, Dhurandhar 2 made about $10M of its $14M in the regular Fri–Sun stretch.

Why outlets show different Ramayana US numbers
If your WhatsApp group is fighting over Ramayana’s US number, here’s why everyone thinks they’re right.
- Different dates. OneIndia had North America preview advance at more than $550,000 on Oct 26. By Oct 31, Sacnilk had it at about $1.065M. Same film, five days apart.
- Different scope. That Oct 31 Sacnilk update put the US-only premiere at $944,863. The $1.065M figure adds Canada.
- Different windows. The Week reported about $2.58M in North America advance on Nov 1, across several days. Sacnilk’s $2.66M covers North America through the first weekend. Both look bigger than the premiere figure because they count more days. The Week also said the Nov 4 paid premieres alone had crossed $1 million.
- Estimates vs actuals. Every older-film benchmark is a Sacnilk estimate. None of them come from the studios.
Zoom out and the two trackers line up on one thing: about $3.5M in total overseas advance. The Week had the UK at about $351K and Australia/New Zealand at about $313K.
Our rule? If a number doesn’t come with a date and a scope (US, or US plus Canada), ignore it. We’ve unpacked this mess before in why no two box office trackers agree.
Verdict by reader type
| If you’re… | Your verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A ticket-count purist | Ramayana beat RRR and Baahubali 2 | 51K+ vs 35K+ and 39K+ premiere tickets (Sacnilk est.) |
| A dollar-gross watcher | Too early to call | The $13M–$14M projection is indicative; actuals are pending |
| A “did it beat Baahubali 2?” fan | Yes on tickets, open on gross | Baahubali 2’s $10.4M came in 3 days; Ramayana’s figure covers 5 |
| A Dhurandhar 2 loyalist | Your record stands, for now | 52K+ tickets and $14M are still the top marks |
Our take? On Ramayana US premiere advance sales, the ticket milestone is real, and it’s huge for a mythological epic overseas. The gross record is a different fight. A $22 average ticket inflates the dollars. Those late-October tickets-per-show numbers still nag at us too.
Until the Fri–Sun actuals land, “Ramayana beat Baahubali 2” is true on tickets and unproven on dollars.
What to watch next: preview actuals and opening weekend
- The Wednesday preview gross. Sacnilk says to read it separately from Thursday, the first full day.
- Walk-ins and reviews. Advance sales got Ramayana this far. Walk-ins, reviews and screen count decide the rest.
- Fri–Sun, Nov 6–8. The number to watch is Dhurandhar 2’s roughly $10M regular weekend.

If the weekend holds, the “Baahubali 2 beaten” headlines finally get dollars behind them. If it sags, Ramayana becomes the film that won the presale war and lost the weekend. Which way are you betting?
