Adbhut Trailer: Nawazuddin’s Ghost Hunt Hits JioHotstar

By AYC Editorial Desk 3 min read

The Adbhut trailer is doing the rounds again, and this time it’s carrying a streaming tag. Sony Pictures Entertainment India posted it on YouTube this week. The title? “Adbhut – Official Trailer”, with #WatchOnJioHotstar tacked on the end.

Quick reality check before you get excited. Adbhut isn’t a new film. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s supernatural thriller premiered on Sony MAX on 15 September 2024, billed as the channel’s first direct-to-TV film (afaqs).

So what’s actually new? Where you can watch it.

What the Adbhut trailer shows

Fair warning: we couldn’t check the new cut’s footage or its description. So here’s the setup as reporters described the film’s 2024 trailer, per an IANS report:

  • A couple visits a secluded villa, and the place seems haunted.
  • Nawazuddin’s detective gets the call to investigate.
  • The ghost takes hold of Shreya Dhanwanthary’s character as the activity escalates.
  • Diana Penty’s character turns out to have a mysterious link to the earlier events.

Classic haunted-house territory, then. Nawaz summed it up in his 2024 Instagram caption: “Truth exists beyond belief.” He’s also said “the supernatural genre has always intrigued me.”

Honestly? Nawazuddin as a detective poking at a ghost story is the whole hook. He’s the reason most of you will press play. Want more Nawaz in spooky mode? Read our take on his Tumbbad 2 entry.

Adbhut cast and crew

Here’s who shows up in the hill house:

  • Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Detective Gajraj Awasthy
  • Diana Penty as Mary Matthews
  • Shreya Dhanwanthary as Dr. Shruti Rawat
  • Rohan Mehra as Dr. Aditya Rawat
  • Himanshi Parashar as Amy R. Matthews
  • Vikram Gokhale as Khan

Sabbir Khan directs. He and Nawaz go back to Munna Michael. Sony Pictures International Productions and Sabbir Khan Films produced it, with music by Julius Packiam and cinematography by Binod Pradhan. The team filmed mostly in Shimla.

Adbhut story and where to watch

The premise is simple. Detective Gajraj Awasthy investigates a haunting in a hill house tied to two doctors, Aditya and Shruti Rawat. It’s a Hindi film, roughly two hours long.

As for streaming, Filmibeat reported on 10 October 2026 that Adbhut is available on JioHotstar. We couldn’t find an official streaming date, though. Older listing sites still say it isn’t streaming anywhere, so check the JioHotstar app for your region.

Paisa vasool ya time waste? Reviews leaned middling. Bollywood Hungama gave it 2.5/5 and said the story “is decent though it gets clichéd at places.”

Our call: missed the Sony MAX premiere and like Nawaz in brooding mode? The Adbhut trailer is your nudge. Queue it up this weekend, just keep expectations in check.
